Leadership isn’t taught in a single workshop. It’s developed through experience, reflection, and guidance. At its core, the G2 Leadership Institute is about transformation: helping advisors see beyond their individual roles and think like firm leaders.
Lena Nebel, President and Chief Operating Officer with BFG Financial Advisors, shares in this mentor spotlight how the G2 Leadership Institute gives rising professionals the structure, support, and perspective to grow into the next generation of firm leaders. She had the opportunity to mentor Andrew Harrell who graduated in 2024, and we greatly appreciate the time that they both contributed to the program!
How have you seen your G2 mentee grow — personally and/or professionally — through the program? Is there a moment or milestone that stands out?
I’ve seen tremendous growth in Andrew throughout his time in the G2 program. Professionally, he’s become more confident in his leadership voice and strategic thinking. He has also developed a deeper understanding of how to lead with both intention and empathy.
A standout moment was seeing him present at his G2 graduation and then at the Alumni event. His ability to share insights and experiences with authenticity and clarity truly reflected how far he’s come. It was a proud moment that captured the impact of his growth through the program.
In your view, what makes the mentor-mentee relationship such a valuable part of the G2 experience? Have you learned from your mentee in return?
Through mentoring Andrew, I’ve gained a fresh perspective on how the next generation approaches leadership, growth, and innovation. His questions and insights often challenge me to think differently and continue evolving in my own leadership.
From a firm or industry perspective, why do you believe the G2 Leadership Institute is important for the future of the advisory profession?
Having an individual go through the program allows that individual to have a better perspective on what it takes to grow a business and all the factors involved. It allows them to see it from the eyes of a business owner’s perspective and how every area of the company is intertwined.
